Your pudding can be vegan and have fiber tooo!!!!

beastie boys

You might think its weird that Im posting a recipe on my art and studio blog,
but food is a medium as well! Who says a recipe cant be art!

Plus, I think exposing people who might not regularly go out and search for such odd things as
AVOCADO PUDDING
might be surprised when they find this and try it...
and to get the right attention, Im just going to throw in the following phrases:
HEALTHY HOLIDAY DESSERT RECIPE
HEALTHY SNACK
HEALTHY CHOCOLATE
HEALTHY FATS

Because this pudding really is all of these..

I first learned of this recipe from Renee Loux in Go Furthur (the tour down the west coast with Woody Harrelson and a bus load of hippies) Awesome movie by the way..

First, you take 3 very ripe and room temperature avocados
(this is a great way to use up ones that are almost overripe)

Did you know that a medium sized avo has 12 GRAMS of fiber?!? One cup of oat bran has 14... so this is amazing to say the least. You've also got a bunch of healthy fats in there... 20 out of the 30 grams of fat in avos are healthy... and if you are slightly pudgy to begin with, these healthy fats will actually HELP you burn the bad fats in your body... so no low fats diets for you please!!

Now, this is where you might start to freak out, Im going to list a bunch of 'speciality' raw food items that you might not have on hand. Fret not... you can always try to replace or just simply omit something if its not in your cupboard

For my variation of this recipe, you will need:

1/4-1/3 cup cocoa powder (how chocolatey do you love your chocolate?)
1/2 cup maple syrup ( or 4 dates soaked in water, or some honey)
1/4 cup coconut oil at room temperature. Another healthy fat!
a pinch of sea salt I love to use my special blend of black, red and pink salts
1 tbsp alcohol free vanilla extract
Why alcholol free? Because this is a no bake recipe... in regular baking, the alcohol is evaporated with the heat, but with this recipe, you would be tasting it... and that wouldn't be very good.
If you dont have any, scrape out a vanilla bean...and if you've got none of those, the chocolate will just have to do on its own.

Take all these things, put them in your food smusher (blender, processor... whatever really..)
Smush till brown and AWESOME

Im sorry I didnt make that sound very appealing...but you shouldnt need an appetite for
healthy vegan chocolate pudding!
Spoon into dessert bowls and chill for 1 hour.
(ok, I see you, person who is going to eat the whole thing right now!)

I served mine with some strawberries that were frozen, but I put in the dehydrator with a cover on them, so they got all warm and liquidy, so I smushed them up too and spooned them on top.

As for taste you ask? The texture is a bit like cooked pudding (which I used to love)
and the taste is rich, clean and somewhat green... you can taste the freshness.
It will win the hearts of non vegans, I promise..
And this is why I am an artist/crafter rather than a food blogger.
Enjoy your smushy pudding!

Mermaid Trinket Treasure Cove

"Look at this stuff, isn't it neat? Wouldnt you think my collection's complete?"
I loved this part!!

Im very pleased with the outcome of my interpretation of a Mermaid's Trinket Cove.

I do very much the same thing as Ariel did... collecting bits and pieces as you go along the journey of life..

Poor thing, being underwater she missed out on so many amazing things!
Like stickers and glitter!
She could never have paper, or any kinds of delicious human treats...

I never thoughts of Ariels plight until I tried to furnish this underwater cove..

You can display the box like this, or it can be propped up like so;

It looks best when the lid is slightly ajar, it gives more of a 3D effect from the front..

The lid by itself is quite fun too... you could always put a photo behind it, inside the box, if you got tired of looking at Mermaid Cove... or maybe just for a night...
if you wanted to keep your treasures a secret from any visitors

of course you cant keep the fishies out...

There is our siren! swimming along in a trail of bubbles.. trying to stay hidden from sight..

her shimmering tail is almost camoflage.. do you see it? In front of the trumpet!

A sweet little love note... its contents are too heartbreaking to tell..only the owner of this Cove can know the story of Celia and Andrew.

Quite a collection of worldly things hidden in this underwater paradise!

The Sea! The Sea! The Open Sea! The blue, the fresh, the ever free!

Drink your greeens!

Winter is coming and my body has already done its 'fall cleaning' where I get 'sick' for a few days.
My weak spot is my lungs..this means Im in bed for about 3 days doing nothing
(tumblr)
After this time though, I feel very cleaned out and refreshed.. I like to try and keep that up
Gotta look after yourself now ... never tomorrow!

Dedicating time to your own health
do you dance? how much do you laugh?
How many leafy green veggies do you eat per week?

Yeah, Im guilty too... I dont much care for salad. I dont eat raw tomato, nor vinegars...
so I can never have a garden salad.
I like some salt and lemon juice, and smoky dulse flakes, got to have some avocado...
If you miss meat or more hearty things, roast up some sweet potatoes and throw them in too..
thats what Im making for us tonight.
Had a green hippy hemp shake this morning..
and yummy chipotle butternut squash and corn soup for lunch. Feelin good.
XO
~kelly

Tis the season!

I listed lots of the jewellery I've been making recently with Christmas gifts in mind.
Trinkets to wear, tiny tokens of affection
I love working with charms, so I put together a few necklaces with different themes to them.
All priced at $15, they are good $20 - $22 gift ideas
(and sorry about all the blurry... silly old camera)

ok ok, also a scorpion brooch, a Hello Kitty necklace
and a couple more necklaces, earrings and bracelets..
Lots of fun stuff, so have a look around if you're stuck for ideas... you can always filter the posts to sort by price if you are sticking to a budget ... click here for lowest prices first..

And honestly, Im usually always open to trades of some sorts... so if you have a shop and you're interested, just send me a convo on etsy! <3 I LOVE to support other artists..
I usually never wear any of my own jewellery.. I love to collect different styles and pieces...
and that goes for anything (clothes, food etc etc)
I get all squishy inside when I think about a huge community of people supporting each other and their endeavors... anything I can do to be a part of that.. Im so in :D

Crystal Altar Storybook diorama

I remember watching The Craft when I was younger,
and just wanting to have an occult store
like in the movie..

I tried to make a miniature version of what I thought it would be like ...

filled with crystals and gemstones, statues and wall hangings, a mini altar!

talismans from afar..

Real moonstone and amber, with chrysocolla and new jade

Malachite and black pearl with real gold and Nefertiti statue

"Be the change you wish for the world"

These mini book covers are actually made with samples of yurt material

Buddha statue with pressed butterfly wall frame

little glass bottles with seashells, parakeet feathers and lavender

I had so much fun making this shadowbox :D
